Linda Renc

Linda Renc has gained an extensive background in calligraphy and the book arts through her studies with internationally-known teachers. She has worked closely with area art centers and museums to lend more visibility to these traditional art disciplines. Linda has taught many classes, and helped to make the Tampa Bay area a destination for calligraphy teachers from all over the world through her involvement with Florida Gulf Coast Society of Scribes. She creates originals, prints and commissioned pieces from her home studio.

"I believe that calligraphy is more than beautiful writing. It has become an expressive artistic medium of its own. As a calligraphic artist, I practice not only discipline in letterforms, but also employ composition and color sense, along with drawing and painting skills. I enjoy the interpretation of words which gives calligraphy its unique spiritual flavor, and I believe this is why it holds a special place in the visual arts."
